Anjani / अंजनी Anjani is a female monkey, daughter of the monkey-chief Kunjar and wife of the monkey Kesri. Due to a curse, the Apsara Punjiksthala was reborn in the Vanar race as Anjanai. Having the power to change her form at will, she had once assumed a human form. Enamoured of her, Vayu, the wind-god, begot on her a son. Anjani gave birth to her son in a cave. He was called Hanuman.
