Ikshavaku was the son of Manu Vaivasvat. He was the first king of the solar dynasty and established his capital in Ayodhya.
After his father ascended to heaven, Ikshvaku performed many sacrifices and charitable deeds, and was blessed with a hundred sons.
Ikshvaku also had a son named Vishal by the Apsara Alambusha.
