Padma Purana / पद्म पुराण
- Padma Purana is one of the eighteen principal Puranas.
- Containing an account of the time when the world was a golden lotus and of all the occurrences that took place then, this work, divided into six books, consists of fifty-five thousand stanzas.
- The first book deals with creation the second is a description of the earth the third and the fourth describe heaven and hell respectively the fifth is the concluding book of the Puran and the sixth is a treatise on the practise of devotion.
- The Padmapurana was first communicated by Brahma to Pulastya.
