Palwal / पलवल

Palwal is a District of Haryana state in India, situated on Agra-Delhi National Highway-2, at a distance of 50 km from Delhi. The latitude of the town is 28° 40' N and longitude is 76° 59' E. The area of town is 22.10 km².As of 2006 India census, Palwal had a population of 150,530(approx).

The main community is Jat. The Jat people are one of the most prosperous groups in the region. Jats holds the major agriculture land in the region and enjoys being the most powerful group in the region.

Its importance is mainly historical, but it is a centre for the cotton trade in the area. It is the site of a Hindu temple called "Panchvati" which is a great symbol of the religion.
