Brahma purana / ब्रह्म पुराण

Brahma purana is the first of the eighteen Puranas. Hence it is also called Adipuran. This Puran, which was related by Brahma to Marichi, is said to contain ten thousand stanzas, but the actual number is between seven and eight thousand. The Brahmapuran gives an account of the process of creation, the Manvantars and the history of the solar and lunar kings to the time of Krishna, which is followed by a brief description of the universe. Glories of Orissa, with its temples and sacred groves that are dedicated to Surya, Shiv and Jagannath, is followed by a short detail on the life of Krishna. It ends with the manner in which Yog is to be performed. hi:ब्रह्म पुराण
