Chitrakut / चित्रकूट
- Chitrakut is a town of religious, cultural, historical and archaeological importance, situated in the Bundelkhand region, bordering Chitrakut district in Uttar Pradesh.
- It is here that Ram and Sita spent their first days in exile.
- Bharat, hoping to take Ram back with him to Ayodhya, had come here to meet Ram and convince him to return.
- After Bharat's return, Ram could not stay there longer as it served as a constant reminder of sad memories and therefore, the three of them, Ram, Lakshman and Sita moved further to other places.
