Kanva / कण्व

Kanva was a Rishi who found the abandoned child (Shakuntala) of Vishvamitra and Menka in the forest and brought her up in his hermitage. He was later the priest of King Bharat, son of Shakuntala. Kanva is also said to be the author of the eighth Mandal of the Rigved.
