Maadri / माद्री

  • Maadri was daughter of the king of Madra and sister of Shalya.
  • Maadri was married to king Pandu of Hastinapur, and was his second wife.
  • Owing to a curse on her husband, they could not beget children.
  • Therefore, she be got two sons, Nakula and Sahdeva, from the Ashvinikumars, with the help of a Mantra give to her by her co-wife Kunti.
  • Maadri killed herself on the funeral pyre of Pandu.
  • Maadri was the incarnation of the goddess Dhriti.
