- Shachi was a daughter of the demon Puloma.
- She was the queen of Indra and the mother of his son Jayant.
- When Indra had hidden himself to get absolved from the sin of killing a Brahman, Shachi sought the protection of Brihaspati.
- With the help of the latter, she managed to quellthe advances of Nahusha.
