Vichitravirya / विचित्रवीर्य

  • Vichitravirya was a king of the lunar dynasty, son of Shantanu by his wife Satyavati, brother of Chitrangad and half-brother of Bhishma.
  • He was married to Ambika and [[Ambalika], the princesses of Kashi.
  • After the death of Chitrangad, Vichitravirya was installed on the throne of Hastinapur.
  • When Vichitravirya died childless, Satyavati had her son Vyas beget sons on Vichitravirya's widows, and thus were born Dhritrashtra and Pandu.
