Chitrakut / चित्रकूट

Chitrakut is a town of religious, cultural, historical and archaeological importance, situated in the Bundelkhand region, bordering Chitrakut district in Uttar Pradesh.
It is here that Ram and Sita spent their first days in exile.
Bharat, hoping to take Ram back with him to Ayodhya, had come here to meet Ram and convince him to return.
After Bharat's return, Ram could not stay there longer as it served as a constant reminder of sad memories and therefore, the three of them, Ram, Lakshman and Sita moved further to other places.
