Kurm Purana / कूर्म पुराण
Kurm Purana is one of the eighteen Puranas. In seventeen thousand stanzas, Vishnu, when in his Kurm or tortoise incarnation, explains to Indradyumna the objects of life, duty, wealth, pleasure and liberation. As a greater portion of it inspires the worship of Shiv and Durga, it is classed with Purans relating to Shiv. The Kurmpuran is divided into two parts. The first part deals with creation, the incarnations of Vishnu, the solar and lunar dynasties, the Manvantars, intermingled with hymns addressed to Shiv, Brahma, etc. and legends of Shiv.
