Shabri / शबरी
- Shabri was a woman of a tribe of forest-dwellers.
- She was an ardent devotee of Ram. When Ram and Lakshman were on their way to Kishkindha to look for Sugriv, they met Shabri, who had gathered fruits and flowers to receive them.
- On their arrival she took a bite of each fruit to make sure that it was sweet enough, before giving it to Ram.
- After she had obtained the blessings of Ram, she lit a fire and entered it, and ascended to heaven.
